



The College Life
As a first year medical student, Dr. Mehdi Hassan joined the Nishter Medical College Multan in May 1963 and passed his final professional exam in May 1968. During his five years of studentship, he enjoyed hostel life living in the Qasim Hall and Razi Hall. Dr. Mehdi was an active member of the Dramatic Society of Qasim Hall. At that time, due to local politics of the college, students used to join different parties based on linguistic and regional background like Punjabi, Pashto, Psedo, and Jangali parties. The students coming from villages were grouped as Jangali Party of which Dr. Mehdi stayed member for five years.

YEARS OF THE 60'S
Starting of the Career
After graduation, Dr. Mehdi Hassan started his career working as the Resident House Officer in Surgery at he Nishtar Hospital, Multan from November 1968 to September 1969.
Dr. Mehdi Hassan was quite impressed and motivated by some of his teachers at the college; namely, Professor Lassi (Anatomist), Professor Gulzar Ahmad (Physiologist), Professor Nazir-u-Din (Pharmealogist) and Professor Syed Zafar Haider surgeon who also motivated him to become a teacher as well. Dr. Mehdi’s favourite subjects were Physiology and Pharmacology that’s why he wanted to adopt career as a teacher in these two subjects. On the advice of his teacher, Professor Nazir-u-Din, the college Principle at that time, he chose the speciality of anaesthesia as his future career. As these two subjects were purely associated to this speciality, he obviously enjoyed teaching them as well as practicing the speciality of Anaesthesiology and intensive therapy.

Role of the Chief Executive is a major responsibility to decide how to run the hospital, managing key personnel, looking after all operations 365 days a year. Dr. Mehdi Hassan is one of the founding memebers of the Medicare Hospital having great adoration and emotions for its success.
With the passage of time, hospital is being managed by the family members, most of them are doctors as well.
